Inside Renew, Edition 1

Welcome to "Inside Renew," where I'll discuss some of the insider details of the series.  Well, "book."  The rest of the series is coming soon.

Some questions that have come my way:

Q:  What's the significance of Markus' call sign?
A:  That one I can't answer with too much detail.  It's a long-running joke with about 15 people in the aviation industry about fictional airplane parts.  But, yes, the climbing scene was written to make the call sign fit.  Any relation to other meanings is 100% unintentional.

Q:  Is there any significance to Markus' squadron and number?
A:  Yup.  That was very intentional.  When I was growing up in Chicago, Sunday nights on Channel 11 (the local PBS station) consisted of Monty Python, Dave Allen at Large, Doctor Who, and The 2 Ronnies.  Doctor Who introduced me to science fiction and space operas and was definitely a huge influence.  But given the limited number of episodes, they'd occasionally run a series called "Blake's 7."  Much darker than Doctor Who, at least by the standards of the time, the show roped me in and hooked me on the genre.  Making Markus "Blake 7" is a tip of the hat back at the show.

Welcome to the official blog for my new book, Renew.  I took on the personal challenge to write a novel in 2015 and came pretty close to finishing on time.

I hope you enjoy it.  I had fun writing it, and if there is sufficient demand, I'll write the remaining two books.  I'll post any updates here.
